So, you received a contract between six to ten pages long. What does it all mean? How do you read it all? How do you decipher all the information? All publishers have their own agreement or contract for their authors. Some are negotiable and others aren't. However, most have the same terms. What do all the terms mean? Well, I've found several resources online to help you.

Paloma BeckAfter a circuitous route, I rediscovered my passion for writing. I'm now a happily married carpooling mom writing erotic romance. It's almost naughty and I love it! I write both contemporary and paranormal romances that are anything but PG. I published my first book with Secret Cravings Publishing in August 2012, then branched into self-publishing in April 2013. Reading romance has always been at the top of Melinda’s favorite past times. After hectic days of teaching English to middle school students, Melinda finds time to write and read in the evenings. She lives in Guatemala, Central America with her husband, three boys and German Shepard. After an amazing career as a veterinarian, I am now pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming a published author. On September 13, 2011, the first book in my Now and Forever series was released.  For the Love of Quinn  had been my baby for two years and I thank the Goddess daily that I listened to my friends and family who encouraged me to get off my butt and send it in to the publisher. Writing erotic romances has been a fantastic experience and one I hope to continue for many more years to come.  With the release of The Island (Now and Forever 2) on November 13, 2012 and the next three books in the series in various stages of editing and polishing before they are sent to Siren for consideration, my life has been completely taken over by my characters.  It’s become even more convoluted with the addition of two more pen names and all the characters that go with them, as well as continuing with publishing my poetry. 
I am a Midwestern girl who lives in California.  I feel like a fish out of water most of the time out here, but I have met a lot of people who help to make me feel a little less homesick for Michigan. With my wonderful husband and muse by my side, I know I’ll find HOME wherever we end up but at the moment it looks like we will be heading up toward Seattle, Washington after he retires next year from the Coast Guard. Who knows, maybe I will write another series set in that area. The possibilities are endless and I hope you all come along on this fantastic journey with me.

I have always had a passion for words, whether it’s getting lost in a book or writing my own. From the time I was a child I would slip away to write short stories about people I knew and fantasies I wished would happen. It has always been my dream to be a published author and with my two children now of school age, I finally have the time to work on making my dream come true.
